Eleonora Duse ha una leggendaria carriera alle spalle che sembra ormai conclusa, ma nei tempi feroci tra la Grande Guerra e l’ascesa del fascismo, la Divina sente un richiamo più forte di ogni rassegnazione e torna lì dove la sua vita è iniziata: sul palcoscenico. Con la sua arte come unica arma, sfida il tempo e il disincanto, trasformando ogni parola e ogni gesto in un atto rivoluzionario. Ma il prezzo della bellezza contro la brutalità del potere e della Storia è alto, gli affetti sembrano dissolversi e la sua salute si aggrava. Eppure, Eleonora affronterà l’ultimo viaggio dimostrando che si può rinunciare alla vita stessa, ma mai alla propria natura.

Eleonora Duse’s legendary career seems over, but in the ferocious times between the Great War and the rise of fascism, the Divina feels a call stronger than any resignation and returns to where her life began: on stage. With her art as her only weapon, she defies time and disenchantment, transforming every word and gesture into a revolutionary act. But the price of beauty against the brutality of power and history is high: her loved ones seem to fade away, and her health deteriorates. Yet, Eleonora will face her final journey, demonstrating that one can renounce life itself, but never one’s own nature.

Pietro Marcello (Caserta, 1976) Realizza cortometraggi (Carta e Scampia) e dal 2004 documentari tra cui Il cantiere, premiato al Festival Libero Bizzarri, e La Baracca che racconta dei senzatetto di Napoli. Nel 2009 realizza il documentario drammatico La bocca del lupo, vincitore del Torino Film Festival e il Nastro D’Argento, il David di Donatello e il premio Vittorio De Seta al BIF&ST. Al Festival di Venezia presenta due documentari, tra cui su Marco Bellocchio. Fa il suo debutto nel cinema di finzione nel 2015 con Bella e perduta, seguito nel 2019 da Martin Eden.

Pietro Marcello (Caserta, 1976) He directed short film (Carta and Scampia) and from 2004 he directs documentaries among which Il Cantiere, awarded at the Libero Bizzarri Festival, and La Baracca, a documentary that tells the story of homeless person in Naples. In 2009 he makes the dramatic documentary La bocca del lupo, winner of the Torino Film Festival and the Nastro D’Argento, the David of Donatello and the award Vittorio De Seta at the Bif&st. At the Venice Festival he presents two documentaries, including the documentary about Marco Bellocchio. His debut feature film, Lost and beatiful, came out in 2015. It was followed in 2019 by Martin Eden.
