The Festival

N.I.C.E. (acronym for New Italian Cinema Events) is a non-profit cultural association founded in 1991 on initiative of a professional group in the field of cinema.

Mission

The purpose of this association is to promote the new Italian cinema abroad, through the organization of festivals and cultural exchanges.

The international promotion of contemporary Italian cinema of directors who test themselves through first and second works constitutes the main mission of this festival: to increase the circulation of works by young directors that can convey the transformation of an ever-growing country, which appears as static and stereotyped in the public’s imagination, but it is instead full of new impulses and extensions.

History

The association has been one of the first organizations to export high-quality Italian debut films and for years has organized the most important film festivals abroad. The festival has now been active for more than 30 years, making its debut in 1988 in the United States and in 1993 in Russia.
