Just three feature films, two short documentaries, and a few fragments remain of the filmography of Elvira Notari, Italy’s first female director. While her life remains something of an enigma—she left no letters or diaries, and there are few photographs of her—today, 150 years after her birth, her work is the focus of renewed interest. Intertwining historical memory and contemporary rediscovery, Elvira Notari: Beyond Silence paints a vivid and detailed portrait of a cinema pioneer who is once again making her mark on the present.

Valerio Ciriaci (Roma, 1988) è un regista e produttore italiano attivo tra Italia e Stati Uniti. Ha diretto documentari di impegno civile come If Only I Were That Warrior e Stonebreakers, presentati in numerosi festival internazionali. Il suo lavoro si concentra su memoria storica, diritti civili e identità, con uno sguardo attento alle connessioni tra passato e presente.

Valerio Ciriaci (Rome, 1988) is an Italian director and producer working between Italy and the United States. He has directed socially engaged documentaries such as If Only I Were That Warrior and Stonebreakers, screened at numerous international festivals. His work focuses on historical memory, civil rights, and identity, with a strong interest in the connections between past and present.
