Dialoga con lui in una conversazione, realizzata prima della sua morte per una serie dedicata ai \u201cmestieri del cinema\u201d. Il regista, scomparso nel novembre del 2018, racconta dei suoi primi successi e dell\u2019ammirazione per i suoi film da parte dei nuovi registi americani degli anni \u201870; dell\u2019avventura con Marlon Brando in Ultimo tango a Parigi<\/i>, della serata degli Oscar per L\u2019ultimo imperatore<\/i>. Uno sguardo di serena nostalgia e di affettuosa narrazione.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The director, met several times Bernardo Bertolucci for conversations published by \u201cL\u2019espresso\u201d and he made video interviews with him included in the DVD of Bertolucci films like The Sheltering Sky e The\u00a0dreamers. After having recalled these meetings, happened during more than 30 years, the film shows, for the first time, the last\u00a0conversation Sesti has had with Bertolucci. It took place about a year ago as part of a series dedicated to Cinema\u2019 s Job. The\u00a0great director tells the early success among international film critics and the admiration toward his films of the new american\u00a0directors of the seventies. He recalls the adventure of choising Marlon Brando for Last Tango on Paris and the faboulous night\u00a0of the Academy Awards won by The Last Emperor. The film explores great moments of his whole biography and unforgettable\u00a0career with serene nostalgia and touching feelings.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mario Sesti (Messina 1958)<\/strong> critico e regista cinematografico \u00e8 autore di Splendor – Suoni e Visioni <\/i>su Iris. Ha diretto pi\u00f9 di dieci documentari, selezionati a vari festival. Ha vinto due volte il premio per il migliore libro di cinema (nel 1994 con Nuovo Cinema Italiano <\/i>e nel 1997 con Tutti i film di Pietro Germi<\/i>) e nel 2005 si \u00e8 aggiudicato il premio \u201cDiego Fabbri\u201d sempre per il miglior libro di cinema dell’anno (In quel film c’\u00e8 un segreto<\/i>). \u00c8 tra i curatori della Festa del Cinema di Roma. Ha diretto, dal 2012 al 2014, il Taormina Film Fest. Ha collaborato alla sceneggiatura di Appassionate <\/i>(1999) e a quella di Cosa c’entra con l’amore <\/i>(1997) con la quale ha vinto il premio Solinas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Critic, journalist and film director,\u00a0Mario Sesti\u00a0hosts a television program on film and culture at large on Iris (Splendor – Suoni e Visioni). He has directed over ten documentaries selected for festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Locarno and Torino. He has twice won an award for the best book about film (for his\u00a0Nuovo Cinema Italiano\u00a0in 1994 and his\u00a0Tutti i film di Pietro Germi\u00a0in 1997). In 2005 he won the Diego Fabbri Award for best film-related book of the year (In quel film c’\u00e8 un segreto). Sesti is a curator of the Rome Film Fest and directed the Taormina Film Fest from 2012 to 2014.
