In Sandro Baldoni’s tragic-comic parable, Antonio (Ivano Marescotti), a man of ordinary dreams, anxieties and venial sins, one day crosses paths with Raniero (Teco Celio), an eccentric millionaire who begins to stalk him for no apparent reason. Finally Raniero reveals his secret: he believes that destiny has chosen Antonio as the man who will kill him, thus opening the gateway to a new, noble life. Antonio doesn’t take this esoteric nonsense seriously, but Raniero won’t go away and begins insinuating himself into every aspect of his existence. When Antonio becomes frightened enough to renounce the temptations Raniero has to offer, it’s too late. But even this isn’t the end of the diabolic game, which leads to the ruin of all the characters and their petty, selfish dreams.
