Two young fishermen are the innocent victims of the so-called “war between civilizations” and the net of suspicion and paranoia that is so much a part of it. In Me, the Other, Yousef and Giuseppe are long-time buddies who have worked together for over a decade. When Yousef (Giovanni Martorana) arrived in Italy as a refugee from Tunisia, he began working on a fishing boat where he met the man who was to become his best friend, Giuseppe (Raoul Bova). After years of grueling work under a “boss”, the two young decide to go into business for themselves and purchase a second-hand fishing boat which they rename “Medea”. Then September 11 happens, and the whole world seems to change. Every aspect of life is affected by this unbalanced, permanent condition of war, capable of casting suspicion anywhere, even on a small fishing boat at sea.
